Archery Tournament Results
Posted on 03/03/2021— Portageville High School and Middle School students proved to be on target in competition Saturday. Portageville students earned all the team awards, received top male and female archer honors and placed among the top three in every category.

Travis Scherer, who serves as coach for the Portageville archery program, said the students have shown resilience as they honed their skills in preparation for the tournament.

“This year has been difficult in new ways with COVID but the students have still shown a lot of interest and have rolled with the punches very well,” he said. “We were shooting about three times a week until the snow hit a couple weeks ago and it put us out for two weeks. Our scores had gone down but thankfully they bounced back (Saturday) and they shot extremely well.”

There were 84 archers competing at the tournament. In addition to Portageville, the archers were from Campbell, Immaculate Conception at Jackson and St. Ambrose at Chaffee.

Hailey Womack of Portageville was honored as the best female archer for both the bullseye and 3D competition. Portageville’s Tyler Dubois earned the best overall male archer in 3D competition and DannyTaylor of Portageville was the overall top male in the bullseye competition.
